HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT ALIGNMENT

MAHSHL HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT ALIGNMENT

Student athletes that are registered with the KCYHA must play on the "Club" team where that teams high school district alignment resides.
Any future player(s) who play in the MAHSHL can participate with an existing team in the league based on one of these two criteria.

  1. What high school and or school district that student is enrolled (if home schooled the rule will be enforced where the students’ residence resides).
  2. The “Legacy Rule”
  • any future player who has participated with the same youth organization at the bantam or u14  level for the past two (2) consecutive years, that student athlete is eligible to participate with that same organization in the MAHSHL if different from the team aligned with the high school that student is enrolled.
    • *The exception to this "Legacy Rule" is any active player enrolled at Rockhurst High School must participate for the Rockhurst Hockey Club and Carriage Club hockey players must be current and active members of Carriage Club)
If the high school you attend is not listed under any of the “Club” teams that are eligible, you must contact the League Commissioner for approval.
Players outside the Kansas City Metro area must roster with the MAHSHL club closest to their primary residence and must have Commissioners approval.

Players shall not register for a team unless they are eligible by district rules, or have been granted written permission from the League Commissioner.

Failure to comply with this rule shall result in immediate player suspension, pending a hearing of the MAHSHL discipline committee.

If a player or their parent/guardian wishes to play for a club other than the club mandated by these rules, the player or their parent/guardian must submit a Club Exemption Request to the League Commissioner.  This Exemption Request must detail why the player wishes to play for an out-of-boundary club.  The League Commissioner will review these requests, consult with both impacted club coaches, and approve or reject the exemption request.   The League Commissioner shall consider: Reason(s) stated within the request, anticipated impact to the competitive balance of all clubs, and players history of any prior movement across clubs

Appeals of the Exemption Request decision must be filed with the League Commissioner within 7 days of the decision, and will be reviewed by the MAHSHL Board of Directors.

Each club is responsible for verifying that their rosters include only players who allowed to play on their teams under these District Alignment rules.

Any club which rosters or allows a player to play in a MAHSHL game that is non-compliant with these rules is subject to discipliary action by the league including any or all of the following:
  • Forfeiture of games in which the player player
